Introduction into amethyst crystal points, clusters and geodes

So far I have been considering green amethyst and its properties, meaning and jewelry. In the next series of post I will concentrate more on ordinary violet amethyst and today I will talk about spirit amethyst.

Before going into the subject of spirit amethyst crystals, let us first discuss some terms and definitions here. A point is a crystals, usually in form of six sided pyramid that has at least one of its two ends terminated in a point (that is exactly why they are called points). They can be double sided or single sides, but what is their main characteristic is that due to this special shape they are excellent to focus energy, and useful in healing and meditation. If we have many points gathered together, then a "crystal cluster" is a complex system consisting of all the points with a common base. It is easier to show this then to explain with words, therefore I have put bellow two pictures, one of a regular crystal point, and the other is a cluster. Clusters come in different shapes and sizes; they can be small or large, elongated or compact or even building special geometric figures. Some particular shapes of crystal clusters are called geodes. Geode is a sphere with an empty cavity lined with crystal points. Geodes are excellent for irradiation of beneficial energy in the surrounded space, as well as for absorbing negative energies.

Crystal clusters are often used to cleanse other crystals. Especially quartz clusters are excellent for such purposes, but I have also heard that people like to use amethyst clusters and even amethyst geodes for purifying other stones and crystals. This makes sense, since amethyst is a colored variation of rock crystal, so it certainly has inherited the primary features of the quartz. But amethyst has also additional and very unique properties, so it is not only about the color. You certainly know how amethyst crystal points look like - they are not so elongated, they are often very compact and thick, especially if we compare their width with their length. On the other hand, quartz points can be indeed more elongated and slim, for instance, some special shapes of that kind are called laser quartz points.

Now spirit amethyst is something even more complex, that is, some amethyst clusters discovered on the African continent exhibit special additional properties. On top of the normal "cluster architecture", there is an envelop of tiny crystals covering the surface of the larger ones. Apart from spirit amethyst, I have seen also spirit quartz (or spirit rock crystals) and spirit citrines. These rare specimens have been newly discovered in South Africa. These crystal forms, whose facets are entirely covered by other tiny crystals, are not limited to clusters only --- I have seen different structures, even single crystals totally or partially covered by other smaller crystals.

The metaphysical meaning of Spirit Amethyst

It is not difficult to intuitively grasp the metaphysical meaning of spirit amethyst. The multitude of tiny crystals can function only in the direction of enhancing the basic features of amethyst, which is already a stone of the mind and the spirit. The energy that emanates from this unusual cover greatly exceeds the energy of the tip of a quartz crystal. Some people claim that the energy of the spirit quartz scales with the number of smaller crystals which cover the base, but I cannot really confirm this although it makes some sense. The spiritual and meditative properties of amethyst are thus increased, making this spirit quartz stone the most fascinating metaphysical crystal of all. It is able to open the seventh energy center -- Sahasrara chakra, and thereby a bridge is being established for the descent of spiritual powers from the higher levels of existence. All the energies we receive from above are beneficial spiritual energies of highest vibrational frequencies. Just to mention that we also receive energies from bellow -- those are the energies of the Earth, which are more grounding, strengthening and irregular in its essence. The spiritual energies from above are always promoting love, mercy and compassion, they relate us with our True Nature which is always selfless and implies service and affectionate love not only to improve our own wellbeing, but also the wellbeing of other people.

Just like quartz and amethyst clusters, the spirit crystals can be used to purify other crystals. However I personally would never use such a crystal for that purposes. Using it to activate and energize other crystals, to work in combination with other stones, or in crystal grids is probably more appropriate. Some new age techniques include using the spirit amethyst for astral projection and lucid dreaming. This, of course, makes sense, since amethyst is such an excellent stone for astral travel, out of body projection, and conscious dreaming, as well as for preventing insomnia and nightmares. Spirit amethyst would only increase these abilities, that is for sure. But its main use should be confined to spiritual and meditative purposes, just like its name tells us. This can be chakra balancing, personal or self-growth, cleansing of our aura and subtle bodies, and reaching enlightenment.

Amethyst is a stone which is associated with the Violet Flame of transmutation and transfiguration. The Violet Flame is one of the seven rays (flames) that work in direction of improving our lives by increasing our consciousness, love, faith and wisdom. Spirit amethyst works together with the Violet flame on transmuting all our negative feelings, thoughts and intentions, freeing our life streams from all possible obstacles, and lifting up our energy and consciousness. This is precisely the process which is often referred to as ascension in its final stages. Amethyst has also been used quite frequently during breathing pranic exercises and even as a tool to facilitate the blockage removal in the sessions of practicing the very efficient rebirthing technique. I have been practicing rebirthing for quite some time in my past, but not recently and not in combination with spirit amethyst. I can only imagine how effective this approach can be, since both tools are very powerful by themselves.

Healing with Spirit Amethyst

On physical level, spirit amethyst is believed to be able to perform exactly the same: to transform our negativities to favorable and beneficial energies. The use of this special type of crystal will purify our body from within, since the cellular basis of our body is dependent on its energetic support. Some people report improvements in treating skin diseases, and great help in removing toxins from the body, either by using the crystal alone, or its elixirs.
